PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

The Japan America Society of Nevada (JASN) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to enhancing the relationship between the people of Japan and the people of Nevada.

JASN was formed in 1995 in response to the tremendous growth in Las Vegas, both as a tourist destination and a center for global trade. Our members are drawn from the entire Las Vegas community - professionals from all areas of local and national business as well as local, state and federal government agencies.

Our members represent the growth and life - blood of our community - construction, tour and travel, restaurants, and professional support services in law, accounting, banking and development. To serve our members and the community, JASN has delivered the Japan Festival featuring Japanese cultural performances and exhibits, and on a smaller scale, participated in cultural exchange with elementary students with workshops on origami, ikebana and reading of Japanese folk tales.

We have worked closely with the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco to host art exhibits such as "The Dolls of Japan", "Discover Japan Through Contemporary Posters," and "Traditional Japanese Pottery." JASN has also presented cultural and educational programs such as Japanese anime, dance, music and martial arts performances in conjunction with Clark County Parks & Recreation department.

In 2008, JASN will present monthly networking luncheons that feature guest speakers every other month, quarterly mixers, a charity golf tournament, the Japanese traditional pottery exhibit and an end of year party.

We hope that you will support our efforts to promote cultural exchange, education and economic exchange with Japan. If you are interested in joining JASN, please call us or send an e-mail.

Sincerely,

Jeff Winchester, President
