 JASN Recent Events Report

 

 

 Two events at the Atomic Testing Museum in August!
Business Mixer & "Journey To Japan"

In August, JASN participated in two events at the Atomic Testing Museum.

On August 2nd, JASN joined with the Las Vegas Metro Arts Council to offer a free business mixer. Attendees enjoyed sushi and snacks while networking.

On August 6th, we were back helping the Museum celebrate the culture of Japan by providing local children and adults the opportunity to learn origami, see Japanese art, and learn about Japan.

All of this was part of the ATM;s annual "Journey Through Japan" event, an event that JASN is proud to participate in each year.

 

 

 

Thanks to the support of our sponsors, donors, and of course players, JASN’s 14th Annual Friendship Golf Tournament was a great success!
Ten percent of the proceeds from the Tournament will be donated to JASN’s Earthquake/Tsunami fund, and will go directly to disaster relief efforts in Japan.

Additionally, funds raised at the Tournament will help the Las Vegas Gakuen (Saturday Japanese School) and will fund our Ichiban Scholarship, dedicated to helping support international scholarship.

 

JASN April Monthly Luncheon Meeting

Members and guests enjoyed a terrific bento lunch from Ichiban Sushi at last Tuesday's JASN monthly luncheon held courtesy of Director Greg Yamasaki at NW Mutual. We had good attendance and gained a new member, Mr. Shu (don't know his full name). We also had a surprise visit from former member Ms Ellen Leigh, who was visiting from California. Members heard a presentation from guest speaker Honorary Consul General of Japan for Nevada Kathleen Blakely providing an update on the situation in Japan following the March 11 earthquake and tsunami and the Japan government response. In addition, we heard reports from Scott Emerson CEO of the American Red Cross, Southern Nevada District about Red Cross relief efforts in Japan and from Jeff Winchester, JASN president regarding JASN and partners local fund raising efforts.
